Bangalore is “The Silicon Valley of India”

November 23rd, 2011 by Emil

In 2005 it was actually decided by the state government that Bangalore should change name back to the original Bengaluru. However the federal government is currently reluctant to giving the permission. Internationally Bangalore is still more used than Bengaluru why it will be used in this post.

Bangalore is the capital in the state of Karnataka and almost 10 million people live in the city. For years after the Indian independence Bangalore was an important industry city but after the reforms of the Indian economy it has developed into an IT city. The technological infrastructure in Bangalore is probably the best compared to other major cities in India. This is why Bangalore is often called ”The Silicon Valley of India”. Bangalore gives the optimal environment to do outsourcing.

However it also has to be said that even though the technological infrastructure is good the infrastructure with the roads are bad. Also it doesn’t exactly help the traffic that holy cows walk freely around in the streets. Fortunately there is currently being built a metro. The first line just opened and soon others will follow. This will give a much needed decongestion to the roads. Also Bangalore just got a new airport in 2008 – Bengaluru International Airport – that can better handle the growing amount of flight routes going to Bangalore.

Bangalore is also known as “The Garden City” because it is so green. Also the weather in Bangalore is very pleasant. It never gets really hot and it never gets really cold (there has never been registered any temperature below 8 degrees Celsius). Furthermore it is dry most of the year though there is a rain season.

In the coming years it is expected that the outsourcing industry will continue its rapid growth. A current growth rate of 10.3 % also clearly indicates how fast the development is going. This makes Bangalore the second fastest growing metropolis in India. This is also why major global companies such as Google, IBM, Oracle, Dell Microsoft, and Yahoo – just to mention a few – all are represented in Bangalore.  In this continuing adventure Bangalore will be one of the centers.

Outsourcing helps businesses focus on their comparative advantages

November 21st, 2011 by Emil

Within the most recent decades big countries such as China and India have opened up their economies. From an economical perspective this was a good idea because it opened up for trading with foreign countries. Free trade is an area where there is more or less consensus between economists that it is good.
The Scottish economist, [...]

Outsourcing throughout history

November 18th, 2011 by Emil

Since there is no official definition it can be argued that outsourcing began already with the rise of small communities millennia ago. The first kind of outsourcing was born when humans came up with the idea of organizing small villages and they started understanding the benefits of the division of labor. This type of outsourcing [...]
